Solomon Bali lives in Sofia and together with his father, runs an interior textile-design business. He was involved in interviewing survivors of the Holocaust and is now the chairperson of the Alumni Association of the Bulgarian School of Politics where he originally enrolled because, as he says, “I had reached a point in my life when I was beginning to realise that I needed to learn about levers of power in order to be able to do something about the ever increasing discrimination and aggression of our times.”
From something which used to be practical, usable and indispensable, Ladino is now turning into a kind of intellectual brooch. And you know how it is with brooches – you wear and enjoy them if you have them, but you can very well manage without them.
